The old city of Cartegena is a beautiful colourful city full of vibrant, cute buildings. I could have moved there. The old city consists of narrow streets with small plazas where the locals perform while visitors sit, eat and watch. We found a lovely cute bar there called ‘El Balcon’ with 3 for 2 cocktails. We went there every night for the cocktails.

One of the days we headed out to Playa Punta area. We got a boat across the water to the beach for 20,000 each return. The beach was great! It was clean and the water was clear. We had a nice table with a straw canopy and the beers were only 4,000 each. My friend Ben and I also went on a jet ski for 40,000 for 15 mins.

In the evening, we, of course, popped to El Balcon for some drinks but also went to a nice meat restaurant called Marzola. The meat was superb!! Really juicy and tender.

The following day was a chilled one. We spent time looking around the old city and went to the smelliest local market we had ever been to.

We also went to a lovely seafood dinner at a place called ‘La Cevicheria’. The meals were delicious and decently priced and there was also a great deal of it.

We went to another beach the following day called Playa Blancho but this time it was a busier beach that cost a lot more for the boar over (35,000). There are two ends to this beach. One is where the hotels are and the other end is where the hostels are. The hostel end is the cheaper end.
